Hong Kong - "1997 Hong Kong Welcome Back To China"

Back to Top | Canada | Ordering and Info

On July 1st, 1997, HONG KONG ceases to be a British Colony and is returned to become an integral part of the new People's Republic of China. In commemoration of this major world event, a local B.C. artist was commissioned to create an artwork which symbolizes the transition from British to Chinese rule. This beautiful multicoloured painting incorporates both the maps and the flags of both the British Isles and China, as well as both the old and new flags for Hong Kong. The background also includes the Great Wall of China, while the central foreground shows three banners: the start and end dates of British rule; and Chinese symbols wishing Good Luck & Prosperity to Hong Kong in the Future.

Out of this painting we have created a four piece multicoloured POSTCARD Set. Not only will these puzzle postcards be desired by postcard collectors, they can be mailed to friends and relatives, kept as souvenirs or given as gift sets. Best of all, when pieced together, their beauty as an art print will make you want to frame them.
