History
Dowco Computer Systems was formed in 1987 as subsidiary of Dowco Consultants Ltd. Initially servicing engineers, architects, designers and planners with CAD related systems and services, Dowco soon developed an expertise in computing technology that focused on integrating graphics with corporate-wide information servers over IP-based LAN and WAN topologies.
During the early 1990s, Dowco became an authorized agent for a number of graphics softwares including: MountainTop from Accugraph Corporation, AutoCAD from Autodesk, I-DEAS from SDRC and PV-WAVE from Visual Numerics. During the same period, in an effort to offer even more comprehensive solutions, the company became a Hewlett Packard Channel Partner, an IBM RS6000 reseller and Cisco dealer. Dowco provided integrated CAD (Computer-Aided Design) solutions for a number of enterprise accounts such as: Overwaitea/Save-on-Foods, Canada Safeway, Loblaws, the Department of National Defense and Canadian Superstores.
Dowco Computer Systems Ltd. was incorporated in 1994 and introduced dowco.com Internet in 1995. Designed to service Dowco’s existing client base, dowco.com Internet soon expanded its service offerings, adding a full range of offerings as an Internet Service Provider. By 1999, dowco.com had expanded to include offices in Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Langley and Toronto. dowco.com Internet is now one of the largest private-held ISPs in BC.
